Rebecca is a real fashion model. Even as a child she was fascinated with the idea of being a model and she would build this dream into her childhood games. Rebecca was born without her left leg as a result of an early development defect, when the umbilical cord became entangled with the baby’s leg and prevented it growing with the rest of her body. She received her first prosthesis at an early age and her parents did everything they could to make sure that she was able to enjoy a happy and carefree childhood. The British TV series “Britain’s Top Model” gave Rebecca the chance she had always wanted. In this show, she competed against two of our other models, Kelly and Debbie. The show was watched by millions of viewers and she was delighted that her dream had eventually become true. The show brought her welcome publicity and she was overwhelmed with offers for modelling jobs. She has finally proved to herself that she has a natural talent for modelling and that she is not going to let her handicap stand in the way of the career she has chosen for herself. Rebecca is a fine example to anyone with a similar disability and will hopefully encourage people to realise that their handicap can be more a distinguishing feature and less a disability. We are very proud to include Rebecca in our gallery of models and know that she will inspire others, who also wear a prosthesis and who still think that they could never be a professional model because of their particular disability.
